Editorial: Welcome to Into the Hill, verson 2.0!

So, Into the Hill readers, you are still here, still reading, still listening, still watching. And we thank you for that. If you’re new to The Hill then welcome, and we hope you’ll join us on our journey.

As our About page says, ITH is built upon community, creation, and a passion for good art. In other words, our intent is to find out what good art is through community and creation. We feel that our job is to provide you with quality content from independent artists in the various artistic disciplines, from music to film - and maybe a little in between. But we don’t want to just say, “alright folks, this dude is rad” or “this chick rocks,” or, on the other hand, “these guys suck” or “this film totally blows.” No, we want to learn about art and discernment and discretion. We want to explore, to study, to learn. That’s what we hope you will do along with us.

With that in mind we have a slew of new features, including the following:

- A couple of new, insightful writers/reviewers in Nick Wimmer, Andrew Webb and Grayson Berkowitz.

- Senior Contributing Writer Tyler Smith, or as we call him, T. Clair, will be offering up a periodical column on the goings-on, happenings, and trends in today’s art. The column is called Miracle Valley, and we think you will love it.

- T. Clair will also be producing his creative, art-themed comic strip, Ruled Line Sequential.

- The Friday Film Focus will be bigger and better than ever (and will even feature periodical articles from Brett McCracken of Relevant Magazine and The Search).

- Senior Contributing Writer Riley Miller will be presenting his sometimes satirical, sometimes farcical, sometimes honest news-related column, Ethos R. Newsworthy.

- Soon there will be a News feature to the right as well, called The Scoop. Be sure to check back often so you’re up to date on the goings-on in the world of art!

- Of course, we always want to hear from you, so send in your reviews of your favorite indie artists and we’ll post the best of them!

As you likely have already noted, the site has a new look. Into the Hill’s Design Director, Aaron Harlow, has been hard at work making the site a little bit more accessible and a little bit more aesthetically pleasing. Over the next several days, new design features will be popping up, including a handy side-bar to the right to help you find recent content you may have missed or to which you want to navigate again. And be sure to join our mailing list so we can alert you when brand spankin’ new ITH content becomes available!

Explore the new site and enjoy the new look! Over the next few days we will be unveiling the new design details. For now, read the introductory articles to the new features, get to know the writers a bit more, what the columns are all about, and what you can expect.

Our goal is to make this journey as worthwhile for our readers as we can. We hope you will continue to check back in and partake. Be a part. And while you’re at it, create some art of your own. Who knows, maybe, one day, you’ll be featured here at Into the Hill.

Cheers,

David Kern
